Dallas Trip Part 4: GWB’S White House Desk Phone

 

 

PRESIDENT G.W. BUSH’S OVAL OFFICE PHONE

Some readers may be surprised by my visit this afternoon to the George W. Bush Presidential Library on the SMU campus in Dallas. This isn’t the time or place for partisan politics and so I’ll write more about my overall impressions of the library later on, along with lots more photos.

 

What impressed me most was standing next to the President’s desk and seeing his phone. Enlarge the photo and check out the key people on autodial, which is really the pecking order of the most powerful people in the country. Hint: When the President has your *home* phone on speed dial inside the Oval Office, you’re a political A-lister.

There’s also family and friends on the phone dial as well, which was interesting. Note the button for George Bush Sr. is labeled as “41.”

Just think of all the conversations that took place over this telephone and how many lives were affected.
