I’m lucky.
I get to dine out with some really amazing people. Names that you would certainly recognize. Even the names you don’t know are often just as interesting, if not more so.
This is all taken for granted, of course. Every night is a potential feast, not only for the food and drink — but for the fresher garnishment of fond memories, provocative ideas, good fun, and plenty of laughs.

Valet parking attendants piss me off. They jerk around with my car. “Fed Up” likely won’t solve this very serious problem. It probably won’t even have much of an impact on what we buy and eat. The food lobby and commercial advertising are too powerful. But someday, when half of this nation is obese and we’re broke trying to figure out how to care for 100 million diabetics with flooded doctors’ offices, we can’t say that we weren’t warned.

Except — there was no cruise. Oh, there was a cruise one might say. But it was a shit cruise to nowhere.
Here’s the story of how I docked the boat that never sailed at the 2010 World Series of Poker.

Something’s troubled me over the past year.
It’s become a more serious problem than many might realize. Certainly, if you’re a poker player and/or you frequently travel to and from the United States, you’ve probably experienced a dramatic uptick in these kinds of annoyances.

I’m addicted to food. Good food, that is. I’m addicted to wine, also. Good wine, especially when it’s on sale.

(Left to Right) Lizzy Harrison, Humberto Brenes, and me.
Humberto Brenes just walked up to me, all pissed off.
He was muttering something in Spanish. Remember, Brenes is from Costa Rica. Brenes was upset that he’d just busted out of another event here at the 2014 World Series of Poker. Thing was, I remember Brenes also cashed yesterday. And the day before, And, the day before that.
