Wine Review: Barrel Heist Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon

Went to Trader Joe’s today.

Marieta: “Don’t buy any more red wine! We have enough red wine at home already! The wine racks are full!”

So, I kinda’ obeyed and bought just one “trial” bottle of red (because one bottle doesn’t count).*

I couldn’t pass up this bargain: $8.99 for a bottle of Barrel Heist Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, CA. An ass-kicking 14.8 alc. content.

The taste doesn’t disappoint. Robust flavor, full-bodied, and a slap in the face. Everything I expected from this wine bourbon bomb.

Oh, and at least I’m not adding to the wine inventory “problem.”

Added Note: From afar, the label is very creative. It looks like a French Grand Cru with all the sophistication, but the photo shows something very different. This is a fun wine to enjoy.

Grade (100 point scale): 90
Value: (10 point scale): 8
Price: $9

Recommended: Yes (this is a great affordable “introduction” to bourbon-barrel-aged reds)

___________

Footnote: …….Okay, plus two bottles of Gewurtztraminer, and one Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Which also doesn’t count.
