“State of Mental Health in America” by Mental Health America, a nonprofit that advocates for people with mental illness recently ranked access to mental health care across America. The study indicates how much access to care exists within a state. The metrics considered (1) access to insurance, (2) access to treatment, (2) quality and cost of insurance, (3) access to special education, (4) mental health workforce availability, and (5) state funding.
Fact: In the group’s 2022 report, Texas ranked 51st out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
