Wine Review: M. Chevallier Cava Carte Noire (Spain)

Champagne (sparkling wines) are for all seasons!
Over the past decade, Cava wines have exploded in popularity. It’s been the biggest mover and shaker in transforming sparkling wines from being outliers reserved only for special celebrations to an affordable and attainable treat for everyone worldwide day or night, for any occasion.
If it’s Tuesday afternoon, this must be time for a Chevallier!
The vast majority of all Cavas are produced in the Catalonia region of Spain. It comes in two varieties — white (Blanco) or rosé (Rosado). Cava is also very “forward-thinking” when it comes to sustainability. Demand is increasing steadily. Starting in 2025, all Cavas will be produced organically.
I purchased this M. Chevallier at Trader Joes, for about $7. It’s the perfect bubbly for an enjoyable afternoon — simple, not complex…clean-tasting, not lingering…and can be served alone or as the ideal mixer for Mimosas and other fruit combo varietals.
Cavas are always enjoyable and this fits the perfect sweet spot for those seeking a sparkler that checks all the boxes.
