When the Levees of Insanity Broke
Thought of the Day: Actions have consequences.
—-When you criminally NEGLECT the nation’s infrastructure for decades and deregulate public utilities, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS (mass flooding all over the Northeast today, electrical blackouts, etc.). ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
—-When you DENY and then IGNORE man-made climate change and allow the fossil fuel industry to buy off your politicians, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS (calamitous hurricanes and storms, record heat waves, catastrophic droughts, massive forest fires, etc.). ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
—-When you start swallowing bullshit, laugh at science, ridicule experts, then initially dismiss a global pandemic, then call it “just like the flu,” then refuse to get the vaccine, then behave like a deranged toddler because you feel your “freedom” is somehow threatened because Costco makes you wear a mask, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS (millions infected, 630,000 American deaths alone, a new COVID strain, possible future threats of a worse virus, etc.). ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
—-When you elect Bible-thumping conservatives and far-Right wingers to positions of great power, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS (a reactionary Supreme Court, women’s reproductive rights steamrolled, etc.). ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
—-When you turn the other cheek and allow death merchants to flood the entire Middle East with weapons and engage in unwinnable wars, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS (20 years of misery and waste in Afghanistan and elsewhere, right back to where we started) ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
—-When you worship slingers of unbridled capitalism and look up to leaders who demonize attempts to make the economy fairer and equitable for everyone, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS (tax cuts for the rich, trickle-down economics, opposition to minimum wage, mass inequity in America….which is now getting worse). ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
Instead of bitching about the troubles or worse — insisting that we PRAY and they’ll miraculously go away because some old sky dude supposedly loves us — instead, how about we band TOGETHER identify the root causes of so many problems and quit making the same mistakes over and over again?
