War Waste and Performative Propaganda

THE TIRESOME BREAD AND CIRCUSES OF WAR WASTE AND PERFORMATIVE PROPAGANDA
Trump’s so-called “Department of War” has been pimping itself a lot lately. Fortunately, most Americans aren’t fooled. We know another distraction when we see one.
This is NOT “might.”
This is NOT strength.
This is NOT patriotic.
This is NOT even American.
This *IS* a gross distraction from repetitious failure. This *IS* performative war propaganda. This *IS* a grotesque waste of time and treasury. This *IS* the fragile ego of little men in positions of abusive power compensating for their deep insecurities.
This *IS* the metastiation of a nation with terribly misplaced priorities, perpetually engaged in conflicts and never-ending wars all over the world. This *IS” the ceaseless stuffing of the bloated war pig, the overfeeding of the military-industrial monster draining us of our money and resources. This *IS* the excruciating obscenity of institutionalized grifting and corrupt insiders while veterans live under bridges and the nation’s real heroes can’t get basic health care or access to mental health treatment.
This *IS* the tiresome preening one expects from dictatorships and totalitarian regimes. This *IS* the tiresome exhibitionism we’ve seen for decades in the Soviet Union, Communist China, North Korea, and brutal right-wing military juntas in South America.
Here’s a thought: Instead of using the nation’s capital to host car races, wrestling matches, and other monotonous hot-dogging bread and circuses, instead — try governing. Instead of using our military as extras, pawns, and Trump’s personal propaganda pimps, how about bringing them home from being stranded in yet another idiotic Middle East war and taking care of them here where they belong? Oh, and perhaps you could use those $100 million dollar planes to drop a few sandwiches on the ships you’ve been neglecting for so long while you’re enjoying your car races and wrestling matches.
PS: It will always be the “Department of Defense.”
