The Temporary Illusion of Peace

MY QUICK TAKE ON THE ILLUSION OF PEACE IN GAZA
Almost everybody wants peace, that’s is, aside from innumerable extremists scattered throughout the Middle East–which includes both Palestinians and Israelis. They aren’t going away anytime soon. Don’t be fooled by innocent people who mean well dancing in the streets, because there are quite a few you don’t see on the news hiding out and plotting the next chapter…. and it’s not going to be pretty for anyone.

Indeed, let’s be honest about this ridiculous overreaction and foolish political naivete. This day and this moment isn’t going to be anything other than a blip on the Middle East historical timeline. I wish that was not true. I actually wish we could believe the imagery we’re being shown. But let’s be realistic.
Yes, I think it’s a wonderful thing that the Israeli hostages were freed and it’s just a terrible thing that there weren’t more of them (because this truce probably could have been made at least a year earlier were at not for Israeli hardliners looking for any reason to completely flatten the Gaza Strip and stomp through the illegal occupied territories on the West Bank)….. but then two years of genocidal attacks on a city as densely populated as Hong Kong or New York — most of it willingly financed by the brainwashed and collared American taxpayer — will not soon be forgotten. It won’t be forgotten by the Gazans. Won’t be forgotten by the Palestinians. Won’t be forgotten by the Islamic world. And it won’t be forgotten by the world–at large.
Noticeably absent in Trump spiking the ball and fascist sycophants bitching about scorned Nobel Peace prizes, is the Palestinians’ future. Anyone remember them? All those dead bodies? All those child skeletons? Not a word was uttered in any of the speeches about two-state solutions or sovereignty, nor any role whatsoever for a mass population on the brink of starvation and utter desperation. Pretty hard to get excited or confident when there’s actually no plan for recognizing millions of people and giving them a right to self-determination. Without Palestinians in the picture, and without their voices heard, there isn’t going to be any kumbaya. Nor should there be. Please wake up, people.
Does anyone really think this so-called “peace deal” is anything other than a huge public relations bonanza for Trump and Netanyahu? Perhaps had Trump shown even a smidgen of humility about the negotiated ceasefire –instead of shamelessly parading his princess daughter and uber-corrupt bribe-taking son-in-law onto every public stage in an attempt to enrich themselves– I might be able to give this sham spectacle some credit and even muster up faith. The devil of all politics is always in the details. Just wait and see.
Just wait until the countless relatives and thousands of orphans of the nearly 100,000 killed and more than a million homeless regroup themselves. You think they’re just going to sit around and accept Trump building a new golf course in Gaza City? It’s going to get very ugly and soon.

If you don’t understand how a slaughtered and disenfranchised population of millions that has a billion sympathizers around the world will not accept displacement, then brace yourself for an rude education. Because it’s coming. Ask yourselves….if your parents or your brothers and sisters or your friends and everyone you knew was bombed ceaselessly into a pile of rubble for 2 years and you had nothing left…..do you think those victims are going to now trust Israel and Trump? Really?
Some kind of negotiated ceasefire was inevitable. It would have been inevitable no matter who was in charge. I mean, hostages can only be kept so long and military resources are limited. Both sides are exhausted. It wouldn’t matter who was in power in any of the nations involved. This was like a collective group of combatants holding their breaths underwater in a swimming pool for 736 days…..eventually they’ve all got to come up for air and breathe. And that’s what this so-called peace deal is…. a temporary gasp of air. It’s little more than that–unless the Palestinians are sitting in a negotiating table carving out their own nation.
Flowery speeches certainly do sound nice. But I’ll believe in real lasting peace the day an American President stands before the *Palestinian Parliament* and gives a speech with assurances of a new era and the dawn of a new age. Until then, it’s all an inevitable confluence of mutual exhaustion trumped with grandiose showmanship.
I’m all for celebrating the return of innocence and keeping things in proper perspective. But until the Palestinians are up there alongside the attention seekers and media hounds, there will be no lasting peace.

We don’t agree often but this is most likely a good take. On the flip side, don’t let terrorists run your little “country” or whatever it is. More like terrorist haven.
But regardless, all this did was create the future assholes, and don’t think for a second they won’t come here. Thankfully it’s much harder now than with your guy.
And evidently the “experts” in the Circa contest, picking 7 games, anything on the board can’t hit 52.4% after 1000 picks. And they couldn’t last year either. Winning is fucking hard. If you don’t bet openers, probably impossible.Think about that.
