The Republican Record on Crime is Appalling
The worst states on crime are Republican states. Yet, the well-funded Republican lie-machine continues pumping out garbage intended to mislead voters and frighten the masses.
Republicans love to talk tough about crime. But what’s their record actually show and prove?
We’ve heard the rhetoric. We’ve seen the attack ads. Republicans falsely claim to be the party better suited to deal with the problem of violent crime. But all facts show and prove otherwise. There’s no other conclusion to draw from the data that REPUBLICANS ARE LYING.
Why do they lie? Because their record on crime is APPALLING.

Let’s examine the facts:
FACT: In 2020, per capita murder rates were 40 percent higher in states won by Donald Trump than those won by Joe Biden. 40 percent higher!
FACT: Eight of the 10 states with the highest murder rates in 2020 voted for the Republican presidential nominee in every election in this century. 8 out of 10!
FACT: Texas and Florida, the two biggest states dominated by Republicans have higher murder rates, and violent crime, and theft rates than so-called “liberal” California. Texas and Florida are more dangerous and deadly than California.
FACT: Texas and Florida, dominated by Republicans, have twice the gun death rate of California. You’re much more likely to get killed with a gun in Texas and Florida than in California.
Examine the list of *worst* ten states in America with the highest murder rates. Eight out of 10 are dominated by Republican governors, state legislatures, judicial appointments, and local officials. Moreover, the number of states is actually 9 out of ten, since one state (Georgia) is dominated by Republicans at the state and local level (GA voted for Biden in ’20 and elected two Democratic senators–otherwise, this is a deep red state at every other level). The five-worst states, by far, are Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama, and Missouri.
Let’s also be clear. Fighting crime tends to be a state and local initiative. The federal government (the president and congress) actually has very little impact on local law enforcement, criminal justice, and corrections. The RESPONSIBILITY for rates of crime applies to STATE and LOCAL elected officials (and judges). You remember this from your high school government class, right?
But Republicans do take some action on crime. For Republicans “tough on crime” means:
— Criminalizing womens’ reproduction and locking up medical doctors, and even going so far as to charge anyone who provides assistance to a woman considering abortion with a crime.
— Bootlicking the disgraceful for-profit prison system. Oh yes, CRIME PAYS, especially for Republicans and their scumbag donor prison merchants.
— Locking up recreational marijuana users and keeping hundreds of thousands of non-violent “drug offenders” locked up in jails and prisons (Republicans overwhelmingly opposed President Biden’s recent decriminalization of marijuana). Maybe this has something to do with Republicans and their donors getting rich off maintaining the mass failure known as the “war on drugs.”
