Can someone explain the logic behind “legal age” laws in this country?

How’s it possible that we allow 18-, 19-, and 20-year-olds to freely enlist in the military and perhaps even die a senseless death over in a faraway place — as indeed happens every single day — but these same brave young people can’t buy a beer?

Roman Catholic Revulsion

I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church.

To this day, most of my family are practicing Catholics.  I attended Catholic School (Holy Trinity in the Oak Lawn section of Dallas) — the same school run by the priest who gave President Kennedy last rights.  I attended mass regularly (strong emphasis on the past tense).  I was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  I once played on the church soccer team, which was called the “Crusaders” (seriously).  My Godfather graduated from the University of Notre Dame.  That’s as Catholic as it gets.

What Are Rich People Complaining About?

Of the millions of Americans who watched President Obama’s sequel inauguration yesterday, one group above all others should be cheering the loudest.

And which group is that?

Poor people?  No.

The middle class?  No.

Blacks?  No.

Try this on for size — rich people.  That’s right, the richest of the rich.
