My Thoughts About Road Rage

 

 

A terrible tragedy happened in Las Vegas yesterday. It was senseless. Stupid. Totally unnecessary.

The result: A dead 11-year-old boy and a murder charge.

The reason: Road rage.

Two drivers got into a dispute. The reasoning, or lack thereof, doesn’t matter. Two cars were driving on a city highway early in the morning. Then, with no warning, something happened between them triggering a back-and-forth clash that ended abruptly when one of the drivers produced a handgun. He fired a shot at the other driver. The bullet blasted through the car window and hit a child who was sitting in the back seat being taken on his way to school. The shooter was later identified and arrested. The boy was pronounced dead.

THE GRATEFUL DEAD FESTIVAL (AKA “SHAKEDOWN STREET”)

I’ve never been much into the Grateful Dead. That’s a confession more than a statement, because I’ve certainly missed some great times. I deeply appreciate -even admire- the unique sub-culture and cool people they’ve attracted to their events for more than half a century. Indeed, there’s something really special about “Deadheads.” I won’t even bother to try explaining it. If you’ve ever been around a Grateful Dead event of any kind or been with that crowd–you’ll get it. If not, there’s no point, really. Trust me, the Dead is something not to merely listen to or enjoy, but to experience.

NeNe Japanese Contemporary Bistro (Restaurant Review)

I can’t quite come up with the ideal way to describe NeNe, a Japanese restaurant on the west side of Las Vegas (in a strip mall at Grand Canyon Plaza near Flamingo and 215). The food was good, but something just seemed to be lacking. Cliffsnotes — satisfactory, but unspectacular.
