Start Dumping Uninsured Texans at Gov. Abbott’s Front Door

 

 

 

HERE’S AN IDEA:

LET’S DUMP A MILLION KIDS ON TEXAS GOV. GREG ABBOTT’S FRONT DOOR

More than a million Texans, most of them children, LOST Medicaid health insurance this year creating major gaps in the public health system for people with low incomes.

In a state that ranks DEAD LAST in the percentage of uninsured and maternal mortality (nice going, Texas!), Abbott and his anti-government, slash-and-burn Republicans continue attacking the Affordable Care Act, decry the so-called evils of “Socialized medicine,” refuse to accept Medicaid expansion, and deny their own citizens (especially innocent children) what should be a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT — which is access to basic health care.

Okay, then. Since Abbott enjoys playing political hardball, I suggest we do the same. He’s perfectly happy shipping immigrants to northern cities (NYC, WDC, CHI), and he’s done so by the thousands. He’s shamelessly used people, families, and children as political pawns — busing (and sometimes even flying) batches of people to what are termed “sanctuary cities.” He (and the floundering and free-falling Florida Gov. Desantis) have even shipped immigrants to the Vice President’s residence in Washington. He sees no problem shipping human beings elsewhere and making them someone else’s “problem.”

Fine. Okay, Abbott. You set the rules. We’ll play *your* game.

I say — we ship EVERY uninsured child to the Governor’s Mansion in Austin.* DO IT. Make his street look like skid row. Any Texan with a medical bill who might otherwise be covered by a sane health care policy should camp on his front doorstep and bang on the gate until basic health care in the state (which is available elsewhere) is provided, particularly to children. Send hundreds of buses. Pack them full. Abbott thinks it’s cute to treat poor people like shit. Let’s give him a taste of his own medicine.

Children suffering just because they’re poor, or immigrants, or uninsured…..IS WRONG.
