Restaurant Review: Tacos and Tequila (Palace Station)

TACOS AND TEQUILA (PALACE STATION)
We had no plans whatsoever to eat Mexican food for lunch yesterday, but when we saw the sign out in front — “2 lunches, 1 appetizer for $30” and “2 for 1 margarita special” — well, they had me at “get your ass in here.”
A surprising discovery: Tacos and Tequila used to be inside the main atrium at the Luxor, until the corporate fun killers raised the lease so high that only the big chains can compete, and so after disappearing from the Las Vegas landscape for a couple of years, they found a new home inside Palace Station, which has undergone a major renovation. We used to enjoy the old Luxor location many years ago, so this was an instant “table for two” change of plans. T&T deserves far more love, and more customers. I hope spreading the word might help.

The pricing, especially with the lunch special is A STEAL. Warm complimentary chips, two homemade dips, an appetizer (we ordered chicken quesadillas), plus two entrees (I ordered chicken enchiladas with rice and beans; Marieta ordered the taco sampler)…all for $30. Margaritas were excellent, with the kosher salt and a nice mixer. Paper straws, too. We were out the door, happy and full, for $42. Oh but wait, there’s more!
If you have STATIONS CASINOS points, Wednesday is half points day for seniors (over 50). So, we used our casino comp points and ate for basically $21 in comps. As I said, A STEAL.
I almost felt guilty, and certainly overtipped. The manager (Kathy) was the same person who ran things at the Luxor and she was so helpful and encouraging. Say hello, if you go in.
The food was very good. Not the best Mexican in the city, but solid (7/10). But the value is a 10. And the service was a 10.
This is a restaurant you should try, especially if you dine on comp points. But even without that perk, it’s well worth a visit.
My video rave about Tacos and Tequila:
