Our First Date (32 Years Ago)

It was 32 years ago this week that Marieta and I went on our first date together in Bucharest, Romania. This was the first picture I ever took of her (actually, this is from our second date–I was lucky to pass the audition). Not bad for the pre-smartphone photo days.

That first date was to a famous restaurant called “Pescarus” in Herastrau Park. Remarkably, I recently discovered that Pescarus is still open all these years later. So, I made a commitment: For our 50th Anniversary (18 years from now), I’m booking a reservation for two — which is for the night of 9 February 2041.

I actually sent them an online reservation form. Hopefully, they can squeeze us in. I don’t want to wait too late and get shut out.
