My Rant About Las Vegas Show Ticket Prices
As is so often the case with anything associated with Las Vegas, I find myself perpetually conflicted on this.
On one hand, I love Adele. I think she’s a mesmerizing throwback to yesteryear when the stage was an apex of genuine talent and raw passion and energy, sadly, which I think so many current performers lack in the techno age.
Yet, on the other hand, Adele mismanaged the initial residency plans so badly when there were some early glitches with the performance. I mean, she’s so talented she could have come out and just done an unstripped version of her music and I think people would have done backflips down the aisles.
And then to add to the complexity of my emotions on Las Vegas shows and headliners of this magnitude, the ticket prices in this city have gotten so ridiculously astronomically out of their fucking minds that it’s no longer affordable for an average working-class person to go and see one of the top acts. I mean, we’re talking about decent seats costing $1,000 — who can afford $2,500 for a couple of tickets and a night out on the town? That’s just cost-prohibitive bullshit.
So watching the Adele situation will be interesting because there’s a lot to like about her and similar acts but the system is just bonkers batshit baffling awful.
I made another quick video (4 minutes) about the rising costs of Las Vegas entertainment:
