If You Could Permanently Block Someone (or Something), What Would It Be?

Question: If it were possible to do so, what PERSON, NEWS STORY, HOT TOPIC, or THING would you block indefinitely?

This means you would NEVER see, hear, nor read about anything related to the person, news story, hot topic, or thing you select ever again.

Think carefully before coming up with your final answer(s). It’s NOT as easy as it seems.

If you’re like me, the most popular media you consume — the internet, television, radio/podcasts, etc.– is littered with clutter. Sometimes, the clutter becomes so pervasive and so annoying, we want it to stop. But in most cases, we can’t make it stop. One of the many consequences of participating in an open society with so many different platforms is exposure to the occasional irritation. Okay, sometimes it’s more than just “occasional.” It’s downright frustrating.

If you can’t pick just one thing, then go ahead. Be bold, Make a list. This can be fun.

Important: Keep in mind that declaring a “PERMANENT BLOCK” does not make the person, news story, or hot topic disappear. It just means you will not be bombarded with that thing anymore. Hence, if you really dislike something, you still might need to know about it, or at least be informed. Otherwise, you might feel left out at the next cocktail party conversation.

My List:

1. DJs. — If I never see, never hear, or never read about another talentless dance club “DJ” again, that’s a win for me.

2. Electronic drum machines — here’s an idea….buy a set of real drums and hire a drummer, you fucking techno-deadbeats!

3. Anything Kardashian / West / Hilton / Spears — enough said.

4. Lacrosse — if this “sport” didn’t exist, would anyone miss it?

5. Television commercials — if I could block all TV commercials from now on, I would. Imagine the time savings.  Oh, and yes — I already DVR all of my television shows and race through the advertisements.

6. Press Releases — they’re all BS, especially the made-up quotes.

7.  Astrology / Fortune Tellers / Superstition / Junk Science — worthless, mindless, distracting, and ultimately destructive.
