More Highlights from the 2014 WSOP

Art Reber-Nolan Dalla-Mark Napolitano 2014

Last night’s dinner was truly special.  I was joined by two special close friends.

On my left is Dr. Arthur Reber, a former professor of psychology at Brooklyn College, in New York.  He now lives on an island off the coast of Washington State (seriously).  Check out his website, which has a lot of interesting perspectives about poker, politics, and life.

On my right is Mark Napolitano, who is perhaps best known for founding PokerPages.com.

Mark is originally from London and now lives in Austin.

As you might imagine, the conversation was non-stop at Buzio’s, the seafood restaurant at the Rio.  Mark ordered my private stock of rainbow trouts and ordered it blackened.  He said it was one of the best fishes he’s ever had.

Tonight, I’m dining with Greg Dinkin, author of a new book called “The Leading Man,” which was just released.  The same restaurant again.  The same order again.

I posted this to Facebook yesterday, but I want a copy here at the site, so I’m reposting it again.  Here are two of the best tournament directors of all time, Jack McClelland (center) and Jack Effel (right).

Jack McClelland served as WSOP tournament director from 1988-1999.  Next, he went to the World Poker Tour, and also ran tournaments at the Bellagio, with lots of other work in between.  I was honored to introduce Jack to the audience yesterday.  He received a nice ovation.  It was great to see Jack playing in the Seniors Championship.  He e-mailed me today to say that was the only event he will play this year.  Jack did manage to last 13 hours and barely finished out of the money.  Way to go, Jack!

The other Jack is the current tournament director, Jack Effel.  He’s presided over more WSOP tournaments and has given away more in prize money than anyone in history.  Jack has run the WSOP since 2006.
