Dirty Derby: Bob Baffert Cheated, So — Do We Get Our Money Back?
The 2021 Kentucky Derby ended up as a shitshow.
A heaping, steaming, nauseating pile of excrement.
The “winner,” a blameless colt named Medina Spirit shocked the horseracing world and rocked the tote board when he won a thrilling race in Louisville, Kentucky in the 147th running of the first leg of the famed Triple Crown.
Medina Spirit paid $26.20 to win, $12.00 to place, and $7.60 to show. That’s quite a payout for those who unknowingly wagered in the Bob Baffert-trained horse and ended up cashing big.
Then came Monday’s shocking revelation that Medina Spirit failed a post-race drug test. He was doped up. Barry Bonds with a saddle.
Turns out, Medina Spirit was given an illegal stimulant that’s banned in thoroughbred racing.

It wasn’t a stimulant. It’s not like they coked hi up! Your article is factually wrong on a lot of things. Stick to football and NBA.

No second test. The sample is split and will be sent to a different lab. The machines that test for this stuff are not calibrated properly. Why didn’t MS test positive in the pre race tests? Different lab.
The problem is this. It could have come from the dermatitis medication ,or more likely an injection in a joint which didn’t clear the horse in time. This medication is therapeutic and not banned, but you have a zero policy on race day. They recommend 14 days, but that’s a guess. BB might have taken a risk on that.
A lot of folks don’t know and think OMG 21 picograms! 1 picogram is 1/trillionth of a gram. But dig deeper and that is in 1 millimeter of blood, which does make it worse.

This is a rampant problem. I just heard about Dreamwalking Farms problem. A horse tested positive for meth. TK said it came from a groom that was a meth head. The horse licked him. That’s really hard to believe.
Folks try Viagra, cocaine and you name it to get to that winners circle.
