Dallas Poker Scene: Advice Needed

 

 

 

I’m headed to Dallas for a week to spend time with my mother. Seeking advice.

While in town, I’d like to visit one or more of the (legal) Dallas poker rooms. I’m seeking recommendations and advice as to the best room, location, and games.

This isn’t about playing a marathon session or anything other than getting a feel for the modern Dallas poker scene. I spent much of my childhood in Dallas and played in lots of illegal underground games up through the 1980s. However, I haven’t played poker in Dallas in more than 30 years. I’ve never been to any of the poker rooms. I don’t even know where they are.

Any advice offered will be appreciated. If you have stories or contacts, please share. I might write about the experience. I don’t write or promote poker anymore, but I’m always interested in a new experience and making friends. My mother just turned 80 and moved into a new condo. So, she might even sit down and play in the game. Look out, people. You’ve been warned.

Note: I’ll drive within 20 miles of Oak Lawn/North Dallas. Not interested in poker rooms in Arlington or Ft. Worth — nothing against them, but too far. Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.
