Busting the Myth of “American Energy Indpendence”

BUSTING MYTHS AND EXPOSING LIES:
“AMERICA IS ENERGY INDEPENDENT”
Remember the mindless “drill baby drill” chants by Republicans?
Remember MAGA’s moronic mass delusions that the United States could somehow drill its way to economic prosperity?
Remember the tireless jingoistic boasting that the United States had become 100 percent “energy independent?”
Hmmm. Well, here we are. Those are the people who now control everything.
Do the prices at the gas pumps look like “independence” to you?
Somebody’s lying. Somebody’s been spewing some seriously toxic bullshit. Somebody’s been swallowing really bad disinformation.
If the United States had truly drilled enough to be fully independent, then — WHY ARE GAS PRICES (AND ALL ENERGY PRICES) SKYROCKETING?
Think about it. A conflict on the other side of the world, no matter how impactful on other countries and their oil needs, shouldn’t have any bearing whatsoever on an American domestic market that claims to be *self-sufficient*. This isn’t difficult to understand. *INDEPENDENCE* means “being free from outside control, influence, or reliance on others.” If that were really the case, then gas and energy prices wouldn’t be going up.
We have all the oil-related stuff here in America, right?
Land — AMERICAN.
Crude oil — AMERICAN.
Drilling equipment — AMERICAN.
Refineries — AMERICAN.
Pipelines — AMERICAN.
Workers — AMERICAN.
Domestic distribution — AMERICAN.
Sales and retail outlets — AMERICAN
All and everything about oil is — AMERICAN.
So in fact, they lied to us. Every single one of them. And the MAGA Trump cultists clapped like trained seals begging for sardines when the boastful bombast of bullshit was repeated over and over and over and over — “America is finally back! We are energy independent!”
Fact is, and anyone with a high school knowledge of basic economics and an elementary understanding global markets would know that oil (and energy) are complex issues that have no decipherable connections to the interests of nationalism and patriotism. Bamboozling gullible Americans with mindless political slogans and feel-good disinformation is backfiring. People see straight through the bullshit. Whatever goes on OVER THERE, impacts what happens OVER HERE.
Gee, who could have known — except EVERYONE paying attention and listening.
Lesson for the day: Oil (and energy) are *global* commodities. “Independence” is a myth. It’s a lie. Americans have been told a big lie about where we stand and also misled into believing this means we are immune from disasters of our own making.
Oh, and Presidents are not usually responsible for gas prices. But in a very rare exception here, this one is. Trump launched an UNPROVOKED WAR on one of the most important countries in the world when it comes to energy and also lacked the forethought to plan for the inevitable disruption of oil transport around the globe. Trump created a clusterfuck, and the price of gas (and other energy) is solely on him (and the war criminal Netanyahu in Israel).
What I will never be able to understand is why so many Americans falsely believe that just because the oil *is here* and is owned and controlled by American companies, that domestic ownership somehow protects us? Do American consumers really believe those oil companies won’t rip us off at the first opportunity? Wake up! Where have you been? American oil companies will screw us and put on the squeeze, upside down, silly, and sideways and fuck us for every penny they can pluck us for at the pump. If you don’t accept this fact, you’ve either never driven a car or you’re delusional.
Always an excuse, any excuse, true or false, to raise prices — and please the shareholders.
Seriously, did ANYONE really think oil companies would act in the interests of — gulp! — American consumers? Really? You think oil companies wherever they are based have a sense of loyalty other than to their cut-throat executives and greedy shareholders? As soon as the first missile was fired into Iran more than a month ago, gas prices began climbing. Opportunity calls! Money time! Let it rain!
Oh, and then there’s Venezuela. The United States is stealing Venezuela’s oil. Trump admitted that reality today in his rambling ego-show at what’s left of the White House. Trump said all the Venezuelan oil income is going straight into a massive fund CONTROLLED BY THE U.S. GOVERNMENT (i.e. Trump). Aside from the criminally repugnant moral and ethical outrage of STEALING another nation’s property and its entire national reserves, if America now has THAT MUCH MORE OIL at its disposal, then why are Americans getting fucked?
“America is energy independent?” That’s a myth and a lie.
“America can drill its way to economic prosperity?” That’s a myth and a lie.
American’s oil companies are the good guys and will act in the interest of American consumers? That’s the biggest myth and lie of all.
Next time Trump or one of his many sycophants falsely claims “America is energy independent,” there should be tears flowing, due to the laughter.
