ANALYSIS AND PICKS FOR WEEK 8:
MINNESOTA vs. LA CHARGERS [TNF]
Game Prop — Will both kickers make a 33+ field goal — YES (-125)
Conditions appear to be ideal for two of the most accurate kickers in the NFL who will be playing inside a dome. Add two offenses that tend to struggle inside the red zone (Vikings #21, Chargers #31 scoring touchdowns inside the red zone)…..combined with two above-average defenses (Vikings #9, Chargers #13 in yards allowed per game)…..and we should see at least one successful mid-range or longer field goal from each side. MIN kicker Will Reichard is 13 of 14 on FGs this season. He nailed 5/5 last week, including a 59-yarder. Interestingly, Reichard made a 59-yarder in Week 1 at Chicago which is notable because it’s the longest field goal in Soldier Field history (a bit of trivia I just learned). As for LAC kicker Cam Dicker, I’ve noted in my written analysis here in past weeks that he’s a surprise answer to another trivia question — “who is the most accurate FG kicker in NFL history” (yes, in NFL HISTORY) based on 100+ attempts? That’s right — it’s Cam Dicker. He’s 106 of 112 for his career in three seasons, translating into a staggering 94.6 success percentage. He’s also a perfect 15/15 this season — longest 59 yards. This FG prop usually goes off at -130, and sometimes as high as -160 in ideal circumstances, especially with long-range kickers. Laying -145 appears very reasonable given the kickers and all factors. NOTE: This prop is increasingly difficult to find. Westgate still offers this prop. DraftKings has this at -125!
