For this week’s “Best Seat in the House” we’re going back in time, many years.
The greatest play in NFL history happened on December 23, 1972, which was 50 years ago. The anniversary was to be celebrated this Saturday; coincidentally, the Raiders return to Pittsburgh in NFL Week 16 to play the Steelers. Then, earlier this week, Franco Harris, who was the star of what became known as “the immaculate reception,” suddenly died–at 72.
Oh, the irony.

What a great quote:
“My tough times would be a dream for anyone else.”
I heard this today from Geno Smith, the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. Indeed, Smith has been through some “tough times” as a professional athlete. He’s struggled in a career of ups and downs, but has played far better than anyone expected this season. Smith was recently asked about the “tough times” during his career. His answer was beautiful.
We are reminded that our lives are often a matter of perspective. Many of the problems we face would be a dream scenario for other people.
