Snakes on a Plane

SNAKES ON A PLANE:
IT’S TIME TO CREATE A FEDERAL “NO-FLY LIST”
Unruly passengers on airlines have gotten totally out of hand. Now, it’s time to do something serious about it. Hammer time.
The vast majority of these self-entitled idiots go unpunished. With few exceptions, their actions have little or no consequences. Airlines don’t want the legal hassle nor added expenses to prosecute and possibly defend themselves in lawsuits. Very few of these morons face criminal prosecution. As a result, the problem is getting worse. 2021 is the worst year for passenger behavior ever, even though the number of flights actually decreased from previous years. The individual freedom fanatics and anti-maskers only make a bad situation worse.
It seems that every single day there’s another incident:
Just do it. Now is the time to create a federal NO-FLY LIST. There is such a list now, mostly pertaining to terrorism. It’s time to expand that to include idiots who put planes, other passengers, flight crews, and even themselves in serious danger. EXPAND this NO FLY LIST to include ANYONE who causes a disruption before or during a flight. This should include verbal harassment and any physical act. BAN THEM. For five years. Ten years. Make it for a long time. No flights. No exceptions.
Given current technology, this shouldn’t be difficult to implement. After all, the software is in place with airlines who have a similar NO-FLY list already. Simply expand it. Then, make a big announcement that there will be *zero tolerance* for any abuse whatsoever on flights. Lay down the hammer. Anyone who acts up beyond that point deserves to be banned from flying for a very long time.
The FAA has the full legal authority to oversee and regulate safety in the airline industry and the use of American airspace by all civilian aircraft. Congress needs to pass and the President needs to sign legislation that puts TEETH into current laws and regulations and dishes out SEVERE PENALTIES for violators.
Enough!
Note: While some big airlines keep lists barring passengers from flights for egregious violations, including unruly behavior, this information is NOT available publicly and is NOT shared with other airlines. So, someone banned by Delta can simply go buy a ticket on American. What’s the point? What is accomplished when idiots can simply go from one airline to another? Moreover, the federal government isn’t doing it job — it does not bar individuals from flying unless they pose a clear terrorist threat, in which case they MAY (keyword — may!) be placed on the “no-fly” list maintained by the Terrorist Screening Center and checked by TSA. This system is totally antiquated and must be upgraded.
