I watched last night’s televised debate between the three leading candidates who are running for Mayor of Las Vegas. Even though 15 candidates have officially filed to run, this now appears to be a tight and combative race between three well-established civic leaders, all of whom are well known to those of us who follow local politics. I was speaking with someone recently–who shall remain anonymous. This person does social work–more specifically in the mental health field. This person deals with tragic situations almost daily. Many of the patients’ circumstances are heartbreaking. I won’t go into detail, but some of the stories mental health professionals must deal with day in and day out are excruciating. I’m speaking about real HORRORS.

A QUESTION ABOUT CAMERAS INSIDE THE COURTROOM
As many of you know, it’s up to the states as to whether or not cameras are allowed inside the courtroom. Some states allow trials to be broadcast live (think of the O.J. Simpson trial in California). Other states ban all cameras in courts of law, thus creating a secondary market of coverage in trials of interest to the public, which obviously isn’t nearly as transparent.

Few sporting events are more exciting than NHL playoff hockey.
Mother and I went to the playoff game, which ironically featured Dallas playing versus Las Vegas. We decided to go all out with opposite team jerseys.
Than fans around us were great.
Terrific seats, and a great game won by Dallas, which eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights to advance to Round 2 of the playoffs.
