Grading the Biden Presidency (Environmental Issues)

GRADING THE BIDEN PRESIDENCY:
THE ENVIRONMENT

President Biden and his staff have a remarkable record of environmental success.

They navigated an obstructive and often hostile political landscape dominated by extremists and overcame a gauntlet of disinformation by opponents. Much of the work done behind the scenes didn’t make headlines, but demonstrated compromise and leadership.

Successful environmental policy comes from one thing–bipartisanship. Back in the 1970s, Democrats and Republicans worked together to enact landmark environmental laws on clean air, water, and energy that made everyone’s life much better. In his term, Biden put together a quiet but impactful consensus. Biden won extraordinary amounts of environmental funding for energy, water, and other programs, and worked with the private sector, which prospered. The fact this was all accomplished in a time of economic recession is even more remarkable.

No president has a perfect environmental record (and since oil production actually increased under Biden’s term, many on the Left think he didn’t do enough), but Biden has the best record of any recent president in history.

Unfortunately, many environmental and conservation initiatives are about to be dismantled, so the lasting legacy of Biden’s record is uncertain.

Grade: 9 (on a 1-10 scale)
