AN OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT — Israeli Ambassador to U.N.: “There is no humanitarian crisis” in Gaza.

AN OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT
Israeli Ambassador to U.N.: “There is no humanitarian crisis” in Gaza.
Huh??? What???
Such a disgusting lie told by a top Israeli government official who should know better makes is very difficult for me to give my full support to Israel.
Since the invasion/war launched on Oct. 7, I’ve been openly sympathetic to Israel, especially for the innocent victims of the terrible attack and in light of so many incidents of deliberate cruelty perpetrated by HAMAS militants. This was an obvious and major shift in attitude for me, given my longtime public support of Palestinian causes and a two-state solution. One cannot ignore facts.
Then, I just watched the Israeli Ambassador in an interview this morning come out and say the humanitarian crisis “doesn’t exist.” I had to stop the stream, rewind, and go back and watch it again. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This was “Bagdad Bob” with a Star of David. Sure enough he said it, repeated it again, and stood by it, much of the chagrin of Dana Bash of CNN.
We can discuss and debate the causes of the current crisis and argue about what to do about it. What *isn’t* in dispute by anyone with access to FACTS is the HUMANITARIAN CRISIS that’s happening in Gaza right now. At least have the decency to admit this is a “humanitarian crisis.”
I find this statement and any belief thereof to be outrageous. It’s typical of Israel’s far-Right, and presumably a wider belief within the cabinet. These are extremists who are not dealing with reality. Such blatant deception undermines trust. It actually hurts Israel. It destroys any hope for peace.
The first casualty in war is always….the truth.
