Doppelganger: Corrupt Cop from “Scarface”
I’m launching a new feature. Let’s call this the “Doppelganger.” Doppelganger is a German word meaning someone who looks like another person. Here’s the first look-alike photo of what I hope and expect will be many more to come.
CORRUPT COP NOW SELLING WINDOWS IN LAS VEGAS
Who could have possibly imagined Mel Bernstein survived a .38 caliber slug in the stomach, followed by another blast to the chest? That gruesome death became his fate after fucking with Tony Montana, a.k.a. “Scarface.” Mel Bernstein was a greedy and corrupt Miami police officer on the take who was skimming money from drug dealers.
Mel Bernstein was played to utter perfection by Harris Yulin, a well-established character actor you’ve probably seen in at least a dozen movies. Yulin typically plays bad guys. He’s even been cast as J. Edgar Hoover and Joseph McCarthy. One can certainly see the resemblance.
Apparently, Yulin (Bernstein) has a double. And he’s now selling new window installation here in Las Vegas. When I sat down with this salesman, during our price negotiations I was tempted to ask if he’d throw in “two first-class round-trip tickets to Europe.” If you’ve seen Scarface, you’ll remember that reference.
By the way, the salesman’s real name? Brian Wilson.
Seriously.
Check him out in the photo I snapped while he wasn’t looking. I had to be tricky.
Here’s the famous scene where Mel Bernstein’s belly pops open like a ripe melon, courtesy of Al Pacino:
