THE AMERICAN PROBLEM:
VOTERS ARE DUMB AS DIRT
Half the country is delusional. According to a study/poll published earlier this week (SOURCE HERE):
— 56 percent of American voters think the U.S. economy is in a recession. Fact: GDP has been steadily growing.
— 49 percent of American voters believe the S&P 500 stock market index is *down* for the year. Fact: The index went *up* 24 percent in 2023 and is *up* another 12 percent in 2024.
— 49 percent of American voters believe unemployment is at a 50-year *high*. Fact: The unemployment rate is currently at a 50-year low, which is currently under 4 percent.
W.T.F. ??? How do so many voters with credible data readily available to them believe so many lies? How can this many people be so dumb?
One can certainly make counterclaims about the American economy, so long as they are fact-based. One can argue the nation is headed on the wrong path, and cite data that should be a concern. One can philosophically disagree with Biden Administration economics. But one CANNOT operate under the presumption of outright falsehoods.
— NO, we are not in a recession, the economy is growing again after the terrible side effects and aftermath of the Trumpdemic.
— NO, stock markets are not down, it’s at a record high–hitting 40,000 for the first time ever.
— NO, unemployment isn’t at a 50-year high, it’s at a 50-year low.
Get your facts right, people !!!
Low-information dirt-dumb voters have been spoon fed a steady stream of lies. Unfortunately, ignorance and stupidity are difficult obstacles to overcome, maybe impossible given the information cycle and how people get their news nowadays. When facts have been so badly distorted by a ceaseless pipeline of MAGA propaganda, no amount of reliable research and data will lift stubborn voters out of the abyss.
Even if someone is foolish enough to blame President Biden for inflation, that STILL doesn’t discount willfully ignoring facts. Believing UNEMPLOYMENT is at a 50 year high reveals an astonishing degree of mass ignorance (half the country). One can reasonably disagree with Biden policies, but to have such a distorted opinion and be so demonstrably misinformed is a level of ignorance that is probably impenetrable.
We have a serious problem, and it’s rooted in mass ignorance.
