“Essential Viewing” is not a term I typically use with any specific news program, particularly with so many excellent sources of information available.
However, tonight’s episode of “PBS Frontline” titled Putin’s Road to War is absolutely essential viewing. Note this is the new edition of a feature on Putin (PBS Frontline also did a 2015 version on Putin, which is very good, but not up to date with recent events).
Many of us, even those among us who follow current affairs closely, weren’t quite sure of the specific reasons for Russia’s (Putin’s) invasion of Ukraine. This background investigation really puts things into perspective. I encourage everyone to watch it.
What is most frightening is — Ukraine’s invasion isn’t the end of anything. It’s more a continuation, and likely the beginning of worse conflicts to come.
I cannot stress how important it is for Americans (and citizens of other countries) to take 45 minutes and learn something for a change.
Please take a pause on the fluff entertainment and put down the bag of potato chips at some point in your immediate future and try to gain a better understanding of history and the world and what could happen in the months and years to come.
It’s pretty goddamned important, right now.
