NFL Predictions and Picks: Week 16

I suffered two brutal weeks in a row.  But now is not the time to complain or tell bad beat stories.

Fact is, this has been a more challenging year than most, and I’m certainly not immune from enduring a cold streak.  Readers beware — I don’t have as much confidence entering the final weeks of the season.  But I’ll continue with the task of picking games.

Let’s also try to keep this in perspective.  After enjoying a huge year last season (+24 units), I’ll be satisfied now with simply coming out ahead — financially speaking for this NFL season.  So far, that’s been the case — being in the black all season long.  Being up $522 over 15 weeks is nothing to brag about, of course.  But it sure beats being STUCK $522, or more.  If I can beat the vig (that’s easily another $2,500, or so) the rest is all gravy.

Here’s the ugly look back at Week 15:

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS (Lay amount/Win amount):

LA Chargers +3 vs. Kansas City (EVEN) — Risking $300 to win $300 — LOST

Pittsburgh +1 vs. Tennessee (-110) — Risking $330 to win $300 — WON

Pittsburgh Team Total OVER 9.5 in first-half (-130) — Risking $260 to win $200 — LOST

TEASER:  Philadelphia -2.5 vs. Washington / Tampa Bay -4.5 vs. New Orleans (-120) — Risking $600 to win $500 — LOST

Houston +5 vs. Jacksonville (-110) — Risking $330 to win $300 — WON

Atlanta +9 vs. San Francisco (-110) — Risking $330 to win $300 — LOST

Chicago Team Total OVER 9.5 in first-half (-120) — Risking $240 to win $200 — LOST

This week, I’m not doing much on the game write-ups.  I don’t see any predictive value to arguing sides or totals at this point.  Instead, I’m playing some systems that won’t be disclosed (yet) but have produced winning results.  I’ll write more about this later when the time is right to share the methodology.

By the way, if you think last week’s picks were clunkers.  Wait until you see this lineup of picks.  They are based mostly on added line value.

Note that some games are currently OFF THE BOARD, but I am likely to bet these sides assuming we get favorable numbers.
