One of the most intriguing World Series of Poker championship final tables I’ve ever covered has come to an end.
Martin Jacobson, from Sweden, won the 2014 world poker championship. He played as close to a perfect final table as anyone on record. Those who watched the two-day finale on ESPN, or followed the coverage elsewhere, witnessed a rapidly ascending poker pro — largely unknown outside of European poker circles prior to the Main Event — playing at a level which would be difficult to match in terms of excellence and creativity. At various stages of the finale, Jacobson was short-stacked. Other times he played cautiously and waited out cold streaks. Finally, he pushed his advantages when he had the chip lead, putting pressure at just the right time en route to a marvelous victory.
