Why the Failure of the Reproductive Rights in the Senate is Actually a Victory for Democrats and the Pro-Women’s Rights Movement

65-70 of the American population agrees that Roe v. Wade should be kept intact

So, the bill to protect the rights of 51.1 percent of the American population to control their health and reproductive decisions, and maintain their privacy, FAILED in the United States Senate.  This was expected.

Every single Republican (a.k.a “radical Republican — that’s the new tagline they’ve earned by trying to turn America back into the 1800s) voted AGAINST women’s rights and anti-choice.  EVERY.  SINGLE.  REPUBLICAN. VOTED. TO. SUPPRESS. THE. RIGHTS. OF. WOMEN.

However, getting a PUBLIC vote on this is actually a victory for Democrats and the pro-choice movement. Here’s why.

What we want is Neanderthals to be tainted with the ugly Scarlet Letter stain of an actual vote on where they stand on a woman’s right to choose. Make them all defend forcing a woman who was raped to deliver that baby! The only way to do so was to bring a vote to the Senate floor even though we all knew it would fail.

Ipso facto, we want to have radical Republicans tainted with a vote on the record when they run for re-election. Every single of one of them must defend overturning Roe v. Wade, whereby at least 10 states are going to FORCE WOMEN TO CARRY THE BABY OF A RAPIST.

By all estimates and polls. 65-70 of the American population agrees that Roe v. Wade should be kept intact. This is irrefutable, and given demographics — old religious bigots are dying and open-minded young people who lean heavily pro-choice are taking their places — this is a BIG winner for the Democrats, yes, even though it lost in the Senate.

That’s my take.
