A Day in the Life

Nolan Dalla Photo

I received an e-mail from a loyal reader recently which contained some good advice.  He made two suggestions for my blog.

First, he wanted to hear more poker and gambling stories.  That’s a reasonable request.  So, look for more stories in the near future.

Second, he suggested making my blog more personal by sharing things I do on a day-to-day basis.

I must admit the thought to reducing this site to some kind of sick twitter update — such as informing the world of what I ordered for lunch strikes me as ridiculously narcissistic and utterly immaterial.  That said, I very much believe “who we are” is defined by “what we do.”  So, I will acquiesce to this occasionally and bore the world with the trivialities of my personal life.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

My typical day begins at 9 am.  I usually go to bed around 2 am.  That’s if I’m at home.  If I’m on the road working or traveling, my schedule varies.  Obviously, each day is different.  But here’s what I do on most days:

9 am — Wake up….drink fresh cup of coffee made by Marieta (the coffee beans must be ground fresh — no coffee out of a can!)….Eat fresh cake/pastry made by Marieta (processed food not allowed in the  house!)…..check e-mail….read Las Vegas Review-Journal

10 am — Exercise and run around The Lakes (three optional running routes ranging from 3 to 5 miles)….Marieta usually joins me and rides her bike

11 am — Shower followed by browsing Internet

Noon — Eat lunch (about half the time dine at a restaurant, other times Marieta always makes something fresh and delicious — No fast food ever!)

1 pm — Run personal errands (grocery store, dry cleaners, shopping, doctor appointments, Home Depot, etc.)

3 pm — Turn on CNN….browse Internet and check e-mail….Afternoon tea time

4 pm — Movie matinee (optional)….if staying home, enjoy afternoon cocktail made by Marieta (always served in 16-ounce steel tumbler!) / Sometimes visit casino sportsbook (wagering)

6 pm — Eat dinner (about half the time dine out at a restaurant, other times Marieta cooks a world-class meal)

7 pm — Attend show, a musical performance, social activity — if available.

10 pm — Watch TV, read books/magazines, browse Internet….Drink bottle of wine

Midnight — Write and work on various projects….Rant

2 am — Sleep
