There’s a Reason for Everything

Here on our block, a few houses still have their Christmas lights up and they are turned on at night. Yet, the holiday season ended three weeks ago. So, what’s going on here?

Admittedly, each time we drive by, we laughed and shook our heads. It seemed ridiculous to keep lights turned on way past Christmas and the New Year. Then, we read something striking that gave us an entirely new perspective. It was posted by someone we don’t know on the community online forum NextDoor.com.

Let me share it with you:

Some folks may wonder why near the end of January, I still have most of my lights up and turned on at night.

My wife left before Thanksgiving to take care of her Dad. Unfortunately, he passed away, and she has had to stay in California. She won’t be back until the end of January.

My wife has always been a huge fan of Christmas, and I think if she sees our lights when she gets home, it will lift up her spirits. Imagine her surprise. So, until the end of the month, it is still “Christmas” at our house.

Wow, I think that’s beautiful.

Most of the time, there’s a reason for everything. Sometimes, we just don’t know what it is.
