Sam Harris Podcast Features a Conversation with Ricky Gervais
The British growler serendipitously calls-in to Harris, who picks up the phone in what’s purported to be an out-of-the-blue question about something or other that launches into a meandering but meaningful conversation about the meaning of our dreams when we sleep and ends with a deconstruction of comedy when we’re conscious with some notable stops in between.
I really enjoyed listening to the podcast and learned a lot from these two talking. Seemingly disparate in most ways — including their chosen fields, background, and education — their unrehearsed sparring is a wonderful example of when yin and yang come together to create a bond that satisfies on both entertainment and intellectual fronts.

Everything Sam Harris offers on his multitude of media platforms is worth reading, watching, listening to, and pondering. Few public figures have the depth of knowledge in so many different fields as Harris. If you’re not a listener, you should be. Most of the 230+ podcasts are free, though you might not be able to listen to every show in its entirety without subscribing.
As for Gervais, he’s an acquired taste for some and a delight for many. I’ve always enjoyed his edgy brand of comedy. I also have great respect for Gervais as an outspoken atheist and fierce advocate for animal rights.
