Putting Aside Our Differences

PUTTING ASIDE OUR DIFFERENCES

Regardless of what we believe politically, let’s agree “regime change” would be a wonderful final outcome of this war.

The thought of a chaotic regime collapsing from within and being replaced by a truly democratic government with free and fair elections would be awesome. The ambition of stopping a rogue militaristic nation sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong and creating constant instability throughout the Middle East while also posing immediate threats to its closest allies and neighbors would be fabulous. The idea of weeding out religious extremism from all levels of government and replaced by secular rule would be spectacular. Maybe it all comes down to getting rid of old men who are hopelessly set in their ways, who are incapable of compromise or changing.

Let’s agree ending rampant corruption, stopping fanaticism, curtailing imperialism, and returning to an imperfect yet functioning international system of diplomacy, alliances, free-trade, and constructive nation building would benefit the entire world. Everyone would be better off.
Indeed, let’s all hope for and work toward “regime change.”

Oh, and if “regime change” ALSO happens in IRAN and ISRAEL — well, that would be great, too!
