AN UNCONVENTIONAL CONVENTION — EDITION 217
Fill in the blank on the following question:
People won’t believe me when I say I’ve never been to __________ .
It’s impossible for me to narrow my answer down to one place, but if I had to say what’s the most surprising is this: I’ve never taken a cruise before. Here’s my five closest answers to filling in the blank:
– Boston — I’ve traveled all over the USA, been to almost every major city, but never visited Boston (except for an emergency landing at Logan once on this SwissAir flight back in 1995, but I never left the plane — this photo was taken the next morning in Zurich)
– Toronto-Montreal-Vancouver — I’ve only crossed the Canadian border twice, and both times were at Niagara Falls. Montreal is a city I really want to visit, probably the most of anyplace in North America.
– Hawaii — I’ve never been a Hawaii guy; I know everyone says it’s beautiful, but never had any strong desire to visit (even with Southwest Airlines offering $400 R/T fares a few years ago).
– A Cruise Ship — I’ve never been on a cruise ship. Nothing against them, just haven’t had the opportunity or the timing was always off.
– Rural Nevada (anyplace other than Las Vegas and Reno) — I’ve driven back and forth between Las Vegas and Reno 12-15 times. However, I’ve never been anyplace else in the state except for those highways — which is kinda’ embarrassing since this has been my home state for 20+ years. I really do want to visit other parts of Nevada.
Of course, the key is — people who know you would be surprised you’ve never been to the place and so now, it’s your turn. List 1, 2, 3, or more places that most people would think you’ve been to, but haven’t visited yet.
This is the TWO-HUNDRED AND SEVENTEENTH edition of A.U.C. Thanks to everyone for participating!
