DAY 4 DATA: LIBERAL STATES HAVE MUCH LONGER LIFE EXPECTANCIES THAN CONSERVATIVE STATES
Call it the Death Belt: Data Proves that life expectancy in Mississippi is 6.5 years less than in California; Conservative southern states have about the same life expectancy as El Salvador, the Palestinian Territory, and the Dominican Republic
Writer’s Note: This is Part 4 in my series exposing the irrefutable truth that the most dangerous, backward, uneducated, and poorest states are overwhelmingly governed by conservative Republicans.
Let’s agree: we all want to live long lives. Each of us wants to live healthy and productive lives, as well.
But what if I were to prove to you that living longer is far less likely in some states than others, and furthermore — those states on both sides of the rankings have something in common?
Fact: The most conservative states in America should be called ‘the death belt.” These death belt states share common political and cultural characteristics. They are overwhelmingly Republican, conservative, and religious. And those policies prove beyond any doubt that public health measured by life expectancy is a catastrophic failure. These life expectancy rates are the lowest in the industrialized world.
The colors and shading of this map tell us everything.
Notice a startling fact; Conservative Republican-run Red States have shockingly LOWER LIFE EXPECTANCIES than Liberal-run Blue states. We can debate the obvious causes of this: Bad diets, weak government programs designed to help people, lack of social services and less access to assistance, inferior health care services, higher rates of violence, and so forth. Take a look at the unmistakable dividing line that is an outright indictment of southern states. Then, contrast this with liberal states with above-average government services and better health care.
This is not an accident. This is a clear indication that liberal policies are succeeding and conservative policies are failing — and failing miserably.
The Worst States (Years in Life Expectancy)
Mississippi — 74.4
West Virginia — 74.5
Alabama — 75.2
Kentucky — 75.5
Tennessee — 75.6
Arkansas — 75.7
Louisiana — 75.7
Oklahoma — 75.7
Let’s contrast the worst with the best:
The Best States (Years in Life Expectancy)
California — 80.9
Hawaii — 80.9
New York — 80.7
Massachusetts — 80.4
Minnesota — 80.4
Connecticut — 80.3
New Jersey — 80.1
Washington — 80.0
This is startling. It’s also unmistakable. So, why would any state want to copy the policies and re-elect the leaders of the failed states? Why would any state want to copy and be like Red-State Mississippi?
Also, check out these WORLD RANKINGS by country and see where the Republican states rank as compared with other (in some cases Third World) nations. CLICK HERE
Claim #1: People live shorter lives — in some cases much shorter lives — in very conservative states with stronger fundamentalist religious values — TRUE
Claim #2: People live longer — in most cases much longer by up to 6.5 years — in liberal and less religious states — TRUE
__________
Note that I’ll be back daily to post several other metrics (most from official federal government statistics) that are irrefutable as to how the most dangerous, backward, uneducated, and poorest states are overwhelmingly led by conservative Republicans.
